Measurement Guide

We want to try to make ordering your curtains & roman blinds as simple as possible. This guide will help you measure and gather the most important information. If you still have any questions please contact us by phone or email.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE

Roman Blinds

1. Width & Drop of Roman Blind

Inside Recess

This is where your blind will fit inside the window frame. Measure the width and drop in 3 places. Use the smallest measure.

Outside Recess

This is where your blind will be larger than your window frame. If possible mount the blind above the window by 15-20cm and allow 5cm on the sides and bottom to block the light. If you want the see as much window as possible when blind pulled up choose standard stack.

Waterfall or Standard Stack

We offer two types of making finish to our Roman Blinds. Standard or Waterfall.

Waterfall - this is where the blind folds as it is pulled up and will take up a little more of the window.

Standard Stack - choose this option if you prefer the blind to take up less of the window when pulled up.

Step by Step Guide

Curtains

1. Width of your Curtains

Track or Pole

Track: Measure the width of the existing track you have currently up at the window.

Pole: Measure the width of the pole. If you have finials (balls on the end) then measure between these.

Nothing at the Window Yet

If you have nothing currently up at the window you will need to add an extra 25cm to each side of the window (this is to allow space for the curtains to stack once once they are pulled back).

2. Drop of your Curtains

To know where to start measure from you will need to know what type of heading you want and also if you plan to use a track or pole.

Pencil, Double & Triple Pleat Headings

Track: If you are using a track measure from the top of the track to where you want the curtains to finally finish, this will ensure the track is hidden.

Pole: Measure from the hook on the ring that is on your pole to where you want your curtains to finish. We will allow enough heading for you to adjust to show your pole or cover it slightly

Eyelets or Ring Top

Measure from the top of your pole to where you want. the curtains to finish. Please make sure you provide us with your ring diameter when ordering- usually 44mm or 60mm.

Wave

For wave heading you will need a specific wave tape track in order for the pleats to maintain consistency once pulled across. Please measure from the hook on your track to where you want your curtains to finish.

3. Finished Length of Curtains

When measuring the drop please think about how you would like your curtains to finish on the floor, window sill or radiator.

Window Sill. Above or Below?

We suggest allowing 0.5cm to 1cm above the window sill. If you want your curtains to drop below the sill we recommend 15-20cm.

Radiators

If you want the curtains to drop down to your radiator but stop above; we recommend 0.5cm stand off.

To the Floor or Draped?

The most common finish for us is just kissing the floor. Measure to the floor then take off between 0.5-1cm.

If you want the look of your curtains to drape across the floor we would suggest adding 3-10cm extra depending on how much you want them to overflow.
